Dennis is a successful entrepreneur with over 27 years of experience within the pet industry. He has founded several leading pet companies and also served 11 years on the Board of Directors of the American Pet Products Association.
Dennis was the founder and CEO of Lazy Pet Products, a highly regarded pet bedding and accessory brand known for its innovative designs, workmanship and high quality materials. He successfully grew and sold Lazy Pet to United Pet Group (“UPG”), a global marketer and manufacturer of branded pet supplies that was owned by the private equity firm TA Associates. Lazy Pet was an early part of the platform that TA Associates used to create a portfolio of leading brands. Dennis served as a Vice President at UPG for approximately 8 years, where he was part of the Petco and PetSmart teams. He also served as the Vice President of Acquisitions, during which time UPG acquired seven additional brands and positioned the company for a successful exit. UPG was eventually acquired by Spectrum Brands in 2005 for approximately $360 million. After retiring from UPG, Dennis co-founded Petsen$e, a retail pet supply chain that currently operates 108 stores in 23 States. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board and has served as a director since co-founding the company in 2005.
